Hi,
To get the ipw2200 driver included with the 2.6.9-5.0.5.EL kernel to
work on my Dell Latitude D800 laptop, I found that I needed to
download and install into /lib/firmware the following files:
ipw2200_boot.fw
ipw2200_bss.fw
ipw2200_ibss.fw
ipw2200_ucode.fw
These files are located at
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php.
Are these files not included in the SL 4.0 distribution for licensing
reasons? The wireless driver can't work without them so it would be
much more convenient to have them included with the SL 4.0
distribution.
Regards,
Raymond
PS: SL 4.0 works very nicely on the Dell D800. For setting up X on
the 1920x1200 resolution WUXGA LCD display, I found the information at
http://techsounds.orgdotorg.org/linux/d800/ very useful. Since I am
not particularly concerned with high performance 3D rendering, I have
been using the X server included with SL 4.0 rather than the drivers
at nVIDIA's web site.
