Howdy,
I often have very mixed feeling when answering basic linux questions. I
love to help people and I want them to get to know Linux, and especially
Scientific Linux. But alot of time's, I'm not really helping them by
spoon feeding them all the answers.
There has been some discussion here (some online, some offline) on
whether discussions here have been too basic or not. I personally want
everyone to feel comfortable posting questions and answers here as long
as it's related to Scientific Linux.
Well, to keep this short, I have written up a web page called
"How to Answer Your Own Question"
or
"How (insert question here)"
https://www.scientificlinux.org/documentation/howto/question
This is a real page with (hopefully) helpful tips.
Yes, the very first step is "Read The Fine Manual" but it then goes on
and gives some man page hints, such as using the man -k to find out what
man page to look at.
