I just upgraded a home Athlon 1700+ system
to SL4. I also replaced an ancient graphics
card with a Jaton 3D MX4000Twin (Nvidia based).

I can use the Vesa and nv drivers with no
problem for basic X usage. But if I try to
use the latest Nvidia driver, when I start
X, the monitor goes gray instead of its usual
black, a character flashes in the upper left
corner, and a few seconds later the monitor
switches off and the keyboard ceases to work
wit the computer (no CTL-ALT-DEL even). The
system seems to be locked up.

I followed the instructions in the README.
In fact, we use this card here at work with
RH8 with no trouble. I'm probably going to
try some older drivers tonight, but wondered
if anyone here had seen this. I haven't been
able to find anything on the net similar.

Thanks,
Miles
