I think the important point here is:

- we shall be able to automatically update
   required modules on kernel upgrade:

   - now this can be done on SL3 with an apt
     addon lua script or with yum (slightly patched).

   - I believe it is important to keep this fuctionality
     workin.

- What about using up2date (from FC3) with yum
   repositories behind ?
   (there are some goodies there: alike selecting
    'nearest' repository server .. etc)
