Howdy,
There was a few problems with the original yum-conf for Scientific Linux. But
none of them warrented putting the yum-conf into the updates area, because
none of the problems were really security related.
But these yum-conf's originally pointed to linux21 as their main updating
server. As linux21's reliability becomes more and more in doubt I think the
time has come to say that these rpm's need to be updated to point to
ftp.scientificlinux.org or they will become a security problem.
I have created new yum-conf's for S.L. 301 and 302. I wanted people to test
them out before they went out, just incase I missed something. They are at
301
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/301/i386/contrib/RPMS/yum-conf-301-5.SL.noarch.rpm
302
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/302/i386/contrib/RPMS/yum-conf-302-5.SL.noarch.rpmftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/302/x86_64/contrib/RPMS/yum-conf-302-5.SL.noarch.rpmftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/302/ia64/contrib/RPMS/yum-conf-302-5.SL.noarch.rpm
One thing to note. These rpm's are a little different from the one's in the
main repository, because these have been setup to be much more careful with
your settings.
The following files will NOT be replaced or altered, if you have already
edited them. If you haven't done anything to these files, then they will be
updated.
/etc/yum.conf
/etc/cron.daily/yum.cron
/etc/yum.d/yum.cron.excludes
/etc/yum.d/yum.cron.primary
/etc/yum.d/yum.cron.secondary
Thanks
Troy
