Correction, "It doesn't however support the Si3112 controller" = " It does
however support the Si3112 controller.

The problem is that the kernel shipped with SL302 does not natively support
the SI3114 controller. It doesn't however support the Si3112 controller. You
might try a cheap LSI Logic Megaraid SI3112 chip controller. They run for
~40 dollars. Newegg.com carries them in stock usually. Otherwise you can go
for the more expensive 3ware option.

We ran into this exact problem. Fedora Core 2 runs great, SL 302 just needs
some coaxing hardware wise. We have the exact same board albeit a bit newer
revision.

Subject: SL 302 insallation on dual Opteron does not recognize SATA drive

Greetings. One of our guys is trying to install the AMD64 version of SL
302 on a computer sold to us by Monarch Computer. The thing came with
Fedora (version 2?) installed, but we want to install SL 302 (or RHEL 3)
for the usual reasons.

The installer is not able to find any disk drives. There are two SATA
drives in the system:

     motherboard:
         TYAN S2875 Tiger K8W #D1558-102 Revision 1.02

     hard drive:
         WD 250GB SATA

We're thinking about just dropping in an ATA drive and using that as the
system disk. Any better ideas?

Thanks.
