Hello,
ftp.scientificlinux.org will be moving to a new server tomorrow morning (Aug.
12, 2004) sometime between 8:00 and 9:00 CST.

This is really just an alias change.  The alias is currently pointing to
linux21.fnal.gov, and it will be moved to linux03.fnal.gov


Why?
linux21 has been having problems when under a high load.  It also was very
close to running out of disk space.
linux03 seems to be more reliable and has much more disk space.

How does this affect me?
If you always use the alias ftp.scientificlinux.org you should not see any
difference when you go there for Scientific Linux items.

If you have been going to ftp.scientificlinux.org to get Fermi Linux stuff you
will see a difference.  All the Fermi Linux stuff has been moved to the
directory /linux/fermi/.  So if you are going to be getting Fermi Linux LTS
301, then you would go to /linux/fermi/lts301/ instead of /linux/lts301.

So Why Tell Me?
Since this is a DNS change, it sometimes takes a while for the change to
propogate across the world.
So there might be some time where you connect to the ftp.scientificlinux.org
from one spot, (let's say germany) and you'll be on one server, and then
you'll connect from somewhere else (let's say australia), and you'll be on the
other server.  Sometime's this confuses people.
