It sounds like: I've just seen the same with updated
firstboot from Q4 (1.1.31-1 - from 
https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2004-581.html)

on an i386 ..

It could be related to:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=135833
(even that SL is not using up2date ...)

Can you try running strace on firstboot as tried in
the above bugzilla bug ?
