thanks a lot,

i have changed the xorg.conf and added 1280x800 to the 

Section Monitor Modes    "1280x800" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection    24ard0"

but that didn't helped.

in the mean time chipset may be the problem this laptop has a chipset of ATI
Radeon Xpress 200M which is not on the list, so i did not change the chipset
(it is currently names vesa generic video driver)
