Yes, thank you Sugl. I did some testing myself, after asking about this
on the list, and I'd also like to announce to anyone else interested:

The compilers, icc and ifort 8.1 (pc_8.1.028), work on SL 4 (i386) on
single processor pentium 4 machines.
The intel math kernel library 7.2 (p_7.2.1.003) also works fine on SL 4
(i386) on single processor pentium 4 machines.

I am continuing to try things out on dual xeon machines, while I upgrade
my current heterogeneous network to all run SL 4.
