For better or worse, I am forced to use an Android device under certain
situations. This device does have a USB adapter. Under X86-64 SL6x,
using VirtualBox and then MS Win 7 under Virtual Box, I can transfer
files to and from the Android device, including to and from the Linux
file system that is transparent (shared folder) under VB/MSW7 . I have
"rooted" my Android device (violating the factory warranty -- but
un"rooted" it was worthless for my needs). This is very inconvenient,
as I normally use VB/MSW only to run enduser applications that I am
required to use and that are not available for open systems.

Android uses MTP to transfer files, and I have not been able to make MTP
work in SL6x (presumably it will work in SL7). However, I have found a
URL that claims to have updated RPMs that support working MTP. The URL is:

http://nuxref.com/2013/10/15/upgrading-the-mtp-support-on-centos-6/comment-page-1/

I have downloaded the RPMS but have not installed anything yet as these
may introduce other unexpected effects. Has anyone tried the RPMs
posted through the URL? Does anyone have any experience or other
thoughts on the issue (other than the usual "do not do it" or "why use
... " when the use of ... is in fact required in the real world of
production end-user applications).

If the above URL does not work, I have a PDF of the web page of the URL
that I can email or post back to this list.
