Hi Akemi,
Unfortunately, it does not work out of the box in SL5.1. It initially worked about half the time with "alias wlan0 iwl4965" added to modprobe.conf, but after the latest updates, it doesn't work at all. I do have Network Manager enabled, but all it sees is the wired connection.
Thank you for the link to the forum; it looks like a promising place to search.

According to this CentOS wiki, 4965AGN seems to work "out of box":
