RedHat (Upstream vendor) took that option out of RHEL4 which SL40 is based
on. RedHat has this option in Fedora Core 3 which RHEL4 is based on.
So many assume that since it was in Fedora Core 3 it is in RHEL4 , which
saddly is not true.
We provide some xfs enabled kernels in /contrib/ but these have to be
installed after the initial install.
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/40/i386/contrib/RPMS/xfs/
or
on cd 4 in /contrib/RPMS/xfs/
Note that a google search of "scientific linux 40 xfs" shows the above ftp
area on item 4 .
