I use the k3b RPMs from this apt source :
rpm http://rpms.xcyb.org/redhat/9 i686 stable bleeding

If you don't want to run a RH9 package, you can rebuilt the source RPMs
from http://rpms.xcyb.org/redhat/9/i386/SRPMS.stable/

You will need id3lib and flac packages from CERN slc302 (apt source =
rpm http://linuxsoft.cern.ch /cern/slc302/i386/apt extras) or DAG
repository (apt source = rpm http://apt.sw.be redhat/el3/en/i386 dag) to
install and devel version to rebuild k3b for SL3.

Did you already used k3b to burn RW DVD ?
