Stefano,

You said:

|you are right, I can create big (>2Gb) files using the tar command
|and create big ISO images for dvd writing,
|but, as you said, I can not create files bigger than 2Gb
|piping program output to a file ( ./program > file.name )
|and I can not download a DVD iso image bigger than 2Gb ( i tried
|both wget and mozilla). So it must be application-dependent.

On Friday the 1st, Connie said:

|I create files that big all the time. Dvd iso images are normally over
|4Gb. Can you send the "error" message you get. Note that a program has
|to be compiled with >2GB support . All of the "utilities" that come with
|SL302 should have been compiled with this. What program are you using?

So which shell are you using? It sounds
as if thaht shell needs to be recompiled.
or some shell or environment variable may
need to be set.
