Hello, maybe a different issue, but...
I have a DELL D630 with the ipw3945 for a week now.
Wifi works fine with vista (have not used it much though.)
Had issues with SL5. I found in my /var/log/messages:
Oct 4 10:58:11 xxxx kernel: ipw3945: Microcode SW error detected.
Restarting.
Oct 4 10:58:11 xxxx kernel: ipw3945: Error Reply type 0x000000FF cmd TX
(0x1C) seq 0x0000 ser 0x00030000
Oct 4 10:58:12 xxxx kernel: ipw3945: Can't stop Rx DMA.
Oct 4 10:58:12 xxxx NetworkManager: <WARNING>
nm_device_802_11_wireless_get_essid (): error getting ESSID for device
eth1: Resource temporarily unavailable
After googleing I tried the firmware ipw3945-ucode-1.14.2 I pulled from
intel. (dropped the ipw3945.ucode in /lib/firmware where /etc/firmware/
had a link to it.) No more Microcode SW error. My connection seems
stable. Working for a day now. I'm using WPA(PSK).
Also I have:
iwconfig eth1:

Hope this helps.
