Hi Troy,

Sorry, the original missive had a typo - it should have been yum version
2.0.7-7.SL.

I'll ditch the contrib from the yum.conf and see what happens tomorrow.

Martin.

Hi Martin,
I'm a little confused, because nothing about what you are talking about
matches. For SL 3.0.3, yum is version 2.0.7-7.SL This version of yum does
the
kernel-module rpm's much better than the 2.0.7-2.SL. So if you have the
older
version, you should try the newer one.

Also, the XFS kernel isn't in the main distribution, it's in the contrib.
So
if you want the XFS kernel-module for openafs, you need to get that out of
the
contrib too.
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/303/i386/contrib/RPMS/xfs/ker
nel-module-xfs-2.4.21-20.EL.XFS-1.3.3-1.SL.i686.rpm
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/303/i386/contrib/RPMS/xfs/ker
nel-module-xfs-2.4.21-20.EL.XFSsmp-1.3.3-1.SL.i686.rpm

And the yum (at least the newer one, I can't vouch for the older one)
doesn't
replace kernel-modules-openafs, because that isn't really the name of the
rpm,
it is kernel-modules-openafs-<kernel>. You can have as many of these rpm's

installed as you wish, because they are each named different.

So, for example, if you have the contrib section uncommented out of your
/etc/yum.conf you can do

   yum install kernel-module-xfs-2.4.21-20.EL.XFSsmp
