Linux Live CD supports the same hardware as an installed Scientific Linux 4. So, the question is:
Does Scientific Linux supports SATA RAIDs? I personally don't know either.
However, just burn the LiveCD and give a try. By the way, you find a testing release of the SL44
LiveCD (with the latest SL44 kernel) in ftp://ftp.psi.ch/psi/livecd/pub/testing

Yes, that's the right page if you would like to building your own SL LiveCD.
