Hello all,
I am attempting to upgrade a workstation from an older NForce-4-based
motherboard solution that worked flawlessly with SL5.2 and SL5.3 to a new
system based around an Intel X48/IHC9 chipset. From some investigation, it
appears that support for this chipset has only been included in kernels
2.6.24 and onward.
My question is this: is there a RHEL or SL-approved 2.6.24+ kernel
available, or do I have to compile from vanilla and hope it works?
Alternatively, can someone suggest another option based around the 2.6.18
kernel included in SL5.3?
I've got the system installed (although installing without DMA support is
like watching grass grow), and it's functional, but the 3.5 MB/s transfer
rate from a pair of RAID-0 WD Raptors is making me cry.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Wesley
