Hi everybody, I'm using SL 3.0.3 in a printer server with CUPS and I
have one problem with the defaults settings of the printers when the
clients define a printer through lpd using cups-lpd which is active on
the server.

I have a queue in the server configured against a network printer
specifying a postcript driver with some defaults options in the ppd file
of this queue.

Then I define 2 different printers in a client. First one an IPP printer
definition against this server to the printer queue defined before and a
second one as LPD printer definition agaisnt the same server queue.

When I sent any job to each of the printers defined on my client, only
the one defined as IPP printer uses the changes introduced in the
defaults driver settings in the server (PPD file in the server). The
jobs sent through the LPD printer which uses the cups-lpd min daemon on
the server are always defined with the same settings independently of
the changes I have made on the server defaults. Any ideas of why this
behaviour could be? Am I missing any details about configuration of
cups-lpd that overwrite the PPD file settings?

Moreover, if I define any settings for my printer on the client through
the lpoptions command, this settings only take efect with the IPP
printer but not with the LPD one.

Note: version of cups on the client and on the server are the same:
cups-1.1.17-13.3.13 on a SL 3.0.3

Thanks for help in advance

Jorge
