Hi Bert,
It sounds like you are using Internet Explorer to download the iso 
images from one of the http download areas.
If that is the case you can solve the problem in two ways.
1- use firefox
2- use the ftp mirrors instead of the http mirrors, such as
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/scientific/6rolling/
