Hi George,
Although the question has been asked before, it hasn't been on this list.
The short answer is RHEL AS is the superset, meaning it has all the rpm's of
the RHEL 3 distribution. ES is the same as AS except for a different service
level. All of the others (WS and Desktop) are just subset's of AS. They do
not have the 'server' rpm's in them, but other than that they are the same.
Scientific Linux (SL) was recomplied from the Source RPM's that are found in
RHEL AS, and as a result, have all the rpm's that are found in RHEL AS. So if
you are planning on doing a comparison you would compare Scientific Linux with
RHEL AS or ES.
