Yes, in fact, the nightly autoyum should just do it magically for you. 
The yum-conf in 40rolling will change to the released yum-conf which 
points to 4.4, and then the next night, yum will be pointing to 4.4, and 
essentially, you're machine will be S.L. 4.4.

Does that clean things up or make it more confusing.
The short answer is yes.
