Fellow Cluster Mechanics and interested parties,

I managed to get 2.6.38 to build as a kernel rpm which works with our SL5.5 cluster here and has tunings for our storage configuration.  We are seeing up to 2x the speed with the newer kernels enabling CONFIG_PREEMPT_NONE.
