If you want KDE 3, then you might want to look at the Trinity Desktop 
Environment:

Trinity is the offspring/follow-on to KDE 3 (3=Trinity).  TDE packages 
are available for SL6 and SL7.

Depends upon the EPEL and NUX repos for EL6 and 7.  I have this 
installed on my CentOS 7 laptop to get KStars; works great, even from 
within the GNOME 3 shell.
