tcl problems in SL 4.2

We have three servers running SL 4.2 i386, kernel 2.6.9-22.0.2.EL and 
tcl package  tcl-8.4.7-2.

When running commands from tcl most of the times we get error messages as: 
"error waiting for process to exit: child process lost (is SIGCHLD ignored or 
trapped?)"

for example:

# /usr/bin/tcl
tcl>exec host rs2ced.frascati.enea.it
Error: rs2ced.frascati.enea.it has address 192.107.54.11
error waiting for process to exit: child process lost (is SIGCHLD ignored or 
trapped?)

The same command work always nicely on SL 3.04 or on other Linux distribution, 
even with kernel 2.6.x.

Any suggestion?
