Thank you!  Is there any way of making this the default setting for
every user?  I tried editing
/usr/lib/firefox-1.5.0.10/browserconfig.properties to read

browser.startup.homepage=http://www.statslab.cam.ac.uk/
browser.startup.homepage_reset=http://www.statslab.cam.ac.uk/
network.proxy.autoconfig_url=http://www.cam.ac.uk/proxyconfig.pac
network.proxy.type=2
print.postscript.paper_size=a4

but only the modified homepage seems to register.
