I downloaded drivers from RealTek's official site, and it didn't work well, Actually, at first it can't be compiled successfully. Since r1000 has been added into SL5.1 x86_64, is there a plan that more drivers are included?

Did you try installing the r1000 driver in SL 5?
   yum install kernel-module-r1000-`uname -r`

I have that network card (I think) and it works fine.

About putting in more drivers. If people can get them to compile well outside
the kernel, so we can put them in as a module, I'm not against putting them in.
They usually go into contrib first, and if they work well, and people need
them, then we see about moving them into the release.
Please note that I said "people" and not "Troy". Please don't send me a list
of hardware that you want working expecting me to find drivers, figure out how
to compile them, and then get them into the release. This is a community,
everyone has a chance to be a part of it. Drivers get in much easier when the
driver compiles nicely, comes from a source we can continue to check for
updates, and even better, if they come already packaged in the kernel-module
rpm format.
