Hi Keith,

I've sets up a repository which allow experimental upgrade of an SL5
distribution to XFree 7.3 :

   ftp://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/linux/distributions/slsoc/5x/i386/experimental/

To benefits fully of the upgrade I've to also upgrade the kernel to
version 2.6.23.13 (to support the xrander 1.2 and accelerated graphics
cards). This new kernel integrate without problem with the SL
distribution. I've had had minor troubles with hibernation (broken
scripts) but I suspect it cames from a mistake of mine.

It breaks some minor packages dependency (mostly exotic drivers).

If you try it, you may encounter a problem with yum due to libexpat :
this because I updated it to version 2.0 and the upgrade broke the
symbolic link (something I can't clearly figure out in the spec
file/post scripts).
To solve it, relink manually : (the gap in versioning is artificial).

ln -sf /lib/libexpat.so.1.5.2 /lib/libexpat.so.0

Good weekend.
