Hi,

I had the same problem but I found something more useful if you are 
using either mozilla or thunderbird.

http://moztraybiff.mozdev.org/

When you click on the icon (on the KDE system tray) showing you new mail 
it will pop up the thunderbird window and display the first new mail.
