Ah, yes. Confusion between core OS and 3rd party applications.

MacOS got it right. Both Google-chrome and Firefox are separate
downloads, Apple not responsible, case closed.

Coupled with defective fact checking (my SL6.6 has firefox-38, the latest),
becomes good FUD material.
