Hello everyone.
Over time, I've somehow come to administer all the machines we run at
our lab, and I've recently been contemplating moving the heterogeneous
set (a mix of RedHat 9s, old Fedora Cores and even some Windows, all on
IA32s) over to something newer and more uniform. I've strongly been
considering Scientific Linux, and plan to give it a try soon, but I
thought it'd be wiser to first enquire about the only show stopping
issue I might run into.
A bulk of what goes on here is number-crunching, and all the code is
finally built using Intel Compilers (C/C++ and Fortran) before runs. My
question thus would be, do the Intel Compilers work (seamlessly) on
Scientific Linux? (I'm guessing SL 3.x should be fine as Intel's own
page[1] lists RHEL 3 as a supported platform. I was more curious about
SL 4 actually.) Any related experiences anyone is willing to share will
be helpful.
Thanks,
Harish
