Dear all,

to be able to do 32bit-compilation/linking (e.g. using gfortran -m32) on
a 64bit machine I need /usr/lib/crt1.o .

I know this file is in glibc-devel.i686 so I try

% yum install glibc-devel.i686
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
  * sl: scientificlinux.physik.uni-muenchen.de

  You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
  You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

What is the underlying problem? rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest does not
produce any output. On a different machine I can

% yum install glibc-devel.i686
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit

Complete!

so there's no problem at all. Both machines produce identical output of
% rpm -qa glibc-\*
glibc-common-2.12-1.7.el6_0.3.x86_64
glibc-headers-2.12-1.7.el6_0.3.x86_64

thanks for any insight!
