In my DELL XPS M1530 laptop, running SL5.3, I have got Marvell Technology

88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller. The driver is supplied only by
atrpms, which by default is not available at the time of the system
installation. So when one installs SL5.3 on such a machine, one gets into

serious and unusual trouble, because [wired] network is not working, and
therefore it is a problem to figure out what is wrong with the Ethernet,
where to find the driver and to get it...

Please, whoever is responsible, migrate this driver from atrpms to sl-bas
e,
or - better - incorporate it into the kernel, as it the case with Intel 4
965
wireless, if I understand it correctly.

Many thanks in advance !!
