Greetings.
We have one user of uni-XEDIT and since she's my boss I'd really like to
solve this.
$ xe .bashrc
xetool: no available ptys
I've seen this lovely message in the past, but somehow managed to get
things cleaned up. I expect my :( undocumented) cleanup went by the bye
as a result of a kernel upgrade somewhere along the line. (uni-XEDIT is
used rarely, obviously).
Here's what I know:
/boot/config-2.6.9-42.0.10.ELsmp
--------------------------------
CONFIG_UNIX98_PTYS=y
/etc/fstab
----------
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
$ ls -l /dev/ptmx
crw-rw-rw- 1 root tty 5, 2 Jun 15 14:16 /dev/ptmx
$ ls -l /dev/pts/

crw--w---- 1 pann tty 136, 0 Jun 15 14:16 0

crw--w---- 1 pann tty 136, 8 Jun 15 14:16 8
crw--w---- 1 pann tty 136, 9 Jun 15 14:16 9
$ ls /dev/pty*
ls: /dev/pty*: No such file or directory
I've googled to no avail. xe is obviously trying to find /dev/pty* and
there ain't none. It doesn't know how to use /dev/ptmx. I've contacted
wrkgrp.com support in the past and will do so again, but I thought
perhaps one of you folks would twig to something obvious I'm missing.
Cheers,
Pann
