 Hi

Two thousand of new Linux 1U CPU farms of Fujitsu PRIMERGY rx200s5
http://ts.fujitsu.com/products/standard_servers/rack/primergy_rx200s5.html
have been installed in our computing center very recently.
Total CPU power is 40th in the Current Top500 list.
http://www.top500.org/list/2009/06/100

Officially RHEL4.7 and RHEL5.3 (and latter version) are supported
on this platform because of the internal RAID controller:

Integrated RAID 5/6 Ctrl, SAS/SATA 3 Gb, 8 ports int.
RAID level: 0, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6, 60, 256 MB Cache, optional BBU (based on
LSI 1078)

However, we want to install SL4.4(i386) on a part of these
nodes because of the software compatibility to the PHENIX
collaboration at BNL.

The BIOS message of the PRIMERGY rx200s5 shows

LSI MegaRAID SAS-MFI BIOS
Version 2.06.00 (Build February 13, 2009)
HA -0 (bus 2 Dev 0) RAID 5/6 SAS based on LSI MegaRAID

The installation of SL4.7(i386) is successful. In the dmesg,
the RAID0 devices are recognized as

I have not yet tested the installation of SL4.4 on this node.
I will try to install SL4.4 in the next week. But the vendor
told us that the installation of SL4.4(RHEL4.4) is not
successful because the SL4.4 does not support this
LSI MegaRAID SAS device driver.

Is there any method to install the SL4.4(i386) to this node?
If so please let us know. So far, the installations with VM
1) SL4.4(i386) on VMware ESXi
2) SL4.4(i386) on SL5.3(X86_64) XEN-kernel
are successful. But we want to install the SL4.4(i386)
on this node without VM software.

Thank you for any suggestion.
