My SL 5.1 machines are not automatically mounting USB drives. RHEL 4 did this
fine, so I am surprised. I have found that the hotplug package is no longer
present in version 5. Apparently, its functions are now handled directly by
udev, but I haven't found any information on how it is supposed to work. I
note that /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug is empty on 5.1; on RHEL 4 it contained
"/sbin/hotplug". Can someone explain how the new setup works? Are there
manual configuration changes I need to make?

thanks,
