Hi,

Good to know that it is working with imagewriter.

Concerning usb creator, there are different usb creator around for 
Fedora. Which version have you used?

rpm -q liveusb-creator

I would guess this is more a Fedora problem than a SL problem.

Have you used the GUI? In case you use the command line tool, you can 
specify the /dev of your USB stick

yum install livecd-tools
livecd-iso-to-disk SL-61-i386-2011-07-27-LiveCD.iso /dev/sdc1
