We have plenty of Dell machines (Optiplex GX280, GX620 etc) which have the 
Broadcom BCM5751 chipset over PCI-E, and these work fine with the tg3 
driver in SL305 (no fiddling with the initrd is needed here).

Now the boards with PCI-E Marvel-Yukon chipsets (e.g. some Intel mboards) 
are a different matter...
