LVM is what you are after.


Also, your post made me remember Openfiler
http://www.openfiler.org/about/

As this works with CentOS or Redhat Enterprise I see
no reason why it won't work with SL.
The about page says that scheduled snapshotting is in testing.
Might be just the dab for you.
I guess you could do a lot worse that download this and give it
a try.
