Note also Troy that if I kickstart into SL43, then yum upgrade etc to SL 4.4,
all works fine. It's only trying to kickstart directly into SL 4.4 where the
netboot config copies the vmlinuz files into
/tftpboot/linux-install/<name_assigned> directory.

That vmlinuz is broken I think.
