Dear USCMS Computing Facility User,

This coming Monday and Tuesday (May 10/11), the USCMS
system admin staff will be upgrading the OS's on the
machines that serve the IBRIX file system
(/storage/remote/data3 on PG and /storage/data2 on UAF)
to the various CMS clusters.

The plan is to do a rolling upgrade which should not affect
service and will maintain the data in the file system.
Having said that please recall that this file system is
in pre-production status and the steps we are taking Monday
and Tuesday will get us that much closer to a production
quality service and file system. In addition, we have not
done an upgrade like this before and the success rate on
uninterrupted service during manual failover of server
functions has not been too great recently. Therefore,
users may experience some access problems and if there
is any data in the file system that can not be recreated,
please make a copy of it some place else.

If you have questions or concerns about this upgrade, please
contact Lisa, [log in to unmask]
